Lush Lawn Repair Program:
Our Lush Lawn Repair Program replaces the synthetic chemical lawn application used by others and restores the health and fertility of your soil. This results in the perfect ecological balance that naturally produces an eco-organic, beautiful lush lawn. This transformative process begins in the soils decomposition processes and cycles. It integrates the latest knowledge from ecological and horticultural sciences concerning the replenishment and maintenance of soil fertility. It unlocks this phenomena by boosting the natural biological activity and increasing the organic matter which are key to an ecologically balanced environment that produces and sustains your “beautiful lush lawn”. The Stick2Mud Lush Lawn Repair Program establishes soils fertility and provides eco-controls to reduce weeds, also pests like grubs, chinch bug, sod webworms, billbug and common lawn diseases, such as brown patch, dollar spot, powdery mildew, red thread etc… Our organic applications provide a permanent solution for softening and aerating soils, which improves air, water and nutrient filtration. Our proprietary compost based applications restore the natural fertility of the soil, in order to provide everything for a healthy, eco-organic lawn. Our approach is based on the science of soil fertility and its ongoing maintenance.
Frequently asked questions:
What does Eco-Organic mean?
We do lawn care with an ecological and organic approach. We work with nature to find a natural collaboration between ecology and effective lawn care practices. We use the defenses and controls that already exist in a natural ecological system, to produce a safe, healthy, and beautiful lush lawn. All of our lawn care practices are in balance with the environment. This balance produces “a beautiful lush lawn” and does it safely.
How do we control weeds naturally?
Weed control is understanding and working with the ecological systems to benefit the grass over the weeds. Eco-Organic weed control is achieved through lawn care & maintenance practices that ecologically minimize weed pressure in a lawn. Weed pressure is the percentage of “weeds and/or weed seeds” in a lawn. Weed pressure increases when the grass plants begin to weaken and forfeit their land use. Weed pressure is also largely determined by the aggression in reproduction (seeds) of the invading weeds.
Our years of experience has taught us that creating and maintaining an ecological environment that is more favorable to grass is what reduces weed pressure naturally and organically.
Our best practices, like biologically aerating the soil, organically fertilizing a lawn, over-seeding a lawn along with compost topdressing will all significantly reduce weed pressure. All the while a frequent lawn mowing schedule (at optimum grass height), and properly watering a lawn will also significantly contribute to reducing weed pressure. This is why Our eco-organic approach is safe and natural and successful.
These ecologically beneficial practices suppress weeds because the balanced environment created favors the grass plant. An ecologically balanced weed pressure is never achieved by chemically eradicating weeds with toxic chemicals and pre-emergent applications. Chemically treating weeds actually ecologically increases weed pressure in a lawn (especially aggression in reproduction), this is why continual applications are needed. In natures ecological system there is always a healthy level of weed pressure present, for diversity is natures safety net.
We have found from our experience that minimizing weed pressure ecologically is the best weed control. Because it is part of maintaining the ecological balance. Weed pressure, like soil PH, is always changing with the weather and is dynamic. When weed pressure is present in a lawn, the living ecology, is balanced and allows grass to thrive as long as it is mowed & organically fertilized.
Why is seeding also done in the Spring?
Ecologically nature has two germination cycles, in both Spring and Fall. In Eco-Organic lawn care we follow natures cycles and promote seed germination both in the Spring and Fall. We use seeding in Spring as a form of weed control, a natural pre-emergent against weeds. And seeding in the Fall to repair, rejuvenates and completely restore a lawn with new grass plants. A grass blade has a life span of 40-50 days. The grass plant has a lifespan of 7-10 years, but as it ages it produces less blades weakening a lawn as a whole.
How Spring seeding works. As a grass seed germinates it puts out a little barrier field that prevents other seeds from germinating close by. This is a natural ecological pre-emergent that is used in Eco-Organic lawn care. Because of this germinating pre-emergent behavior, Spring seeding is great at balancing the weed pressure in a lawn. Frequent mowing, especially in the Spring, is the only ecological way to thicken a lawn.
Why is core aeration not part of your program?
Soil aeration is created and maintained by the Organic Matter in the soil profile. Compaction is staged with the use of synthetic fertilizers (non-carbon based) combined with lawn care practices that deplete the Organic Matter and its microbial life. As the soil Organic Matter and biology increases, soil aeration improves. Organic slow-release fertilizers and compost contribute to the Organic Matter content of the soil and naturally keep the soil alive and aerated. Core-aerations are only needed in very extreme circumstances which would require our Restorative Lawn Detox Program Package. Core aeration is only needed if a soil compaction test shows a reading of over 250 lbs.
How do you control lawn grubs?
Grubs are a natural part of an ecological system. We control insect infestations with the grass seed type we select. Our grass seed mix contain endophytes that naturally deter insects from feeding on the grass. We also recommend using an Eastern Bluebird Nesting house as they are natural ecological insect predators. By controlling the surface insects that lay the eggs in the soil, we reduce the larva damage that eat the grass roots. We will apply nematodes in some cases as this is a natural ecological solution.
How long before I see any results?
Our specific slow-release organic fertilizers will begin to show results in 7 days depending on the weather and overall lawn health. Our all natural biological boosting application begins to work immediately upon watering and continually produces visible result over the next 60 days, leaving you with a beautiful lush lawn.
What is the “monitoring efficacy service”?
This service is how we monitor the progress and ensure the overall health of a lawn. With this service we monitor both your soil and grass health readings so that necessary adjustments and recommendations can be made to ensure your beautiful lush lawn.
How do slow-release fertilizers work and why are they better?
Slow release carbon based fertilizers provide a steady flow of nutrients over an extended period of time so that the soil is fed continuously and your lawn experiences a steady growth. This maintains the decomposition cycle and all its benefits, all season long. We intentionally use the decomposition cycle because this is the natural ecological system that nature uses. This eliminates the up and down swings of nutrient supply and its side effects.
What does “safe” mean?
There will be no negative chemical side effects upon any living organism –soil, grass, children, pets or adults. There is nothing to fear as your loved ones are never in contact with any chemical compounds. A safe lawn is an eco-organic lawn that uses only ecologically safe applications and practices that follow nature’s order.

Stick2Mud: The Eco-Organic Lawn Expert
Service Descriptions
Organic fertilizing - Our organic fertilizer is applied only when the lawn is growing. This fertilizer has nitrogen units that are formulated to release slowly over the growing season, like compost, and contains all the macro nutrients needed in one application. We use this formulation for both lawn maintenance and seeding.
Biological Eco-Boosting - Our biological boost contains thousands of fast acting micro sized biological particles, and within a few minutes after watering, they enter into the soil, immediately going to work to improve nutrient efficiency and soil conditions.
BENEFITS OF OUR BIOLOGICAL BOOSTING:
-
-
Increases nutrient uptake
-
Increases drought tolerance
-
Aids in seed germination
-
Stimulates microbial activity which aids in root stimulation
-
Provides increased soil aeration
-
Adjusts soil PH to more neutral levels
-
Flushes out high levels of salt in the root zone
-
Compost Topdressing - Compost top dressing a lawn is the best way to improve the overall health of your turf grass and the soil beneath it. It makes your lawn more resistant to diseases, pests and better able to choke out weeds. It encourages a deep root system that can better withstand drought and nurtures the beneficial soil microbes that help grasses thrive.
We spread 1/6 of an inch of compost over the grass. Rain, wind, soil organisms, and human activity quickly move the compost down through the grass and into the soil where it can work its magic. A top dressing of compost over the lawn pays you back in many ways:
As the compost works its way down into the soil, it helps aerate compacted soils. This occurs when soil organisms, both big and small, work to digest the compost and they open up microscopic pore spaces within the soil. With regular applications of compost, you’ll eliminate the need to ever aerate your lawn again.
Top dressing just 1/6 of an inch thick, in combination with allowing your lawn clippings to fall to the ground when mowing, provides additional nutrients your lawn can now decompose to fuel your lawn’s health and growth.
The nutrients in compost are released slowly, over a long period of time and with very little nutrient leaching. This prevents waterways and ground water from being polluted by fertilized run-off.
Seeding - Our robust grass seed mix contain rhizomes, a seed enhancement that allows roots to grow horizontally, repairing bald and damaged lawn spots. They also increases your lawn's resiliency against stress. Our grass seed also contain endophytes to protect against common lawn diseases like brown patch, red thread, rust and many others. Those horizontal root systems also grow deeply, which means the grass will hold up under high traffic and resist periods of drought. Our seed grows well in both sun or shade and maintains its color all season long.
Power raking - Our power raking practice helps produce a level lawn and prepares the lawn for seeding. It also provides weed suppression throughout the growing season, eliminating the need for herbicides. This practice of weed control only disturbs the top few millimeters of soil around the grass plants but with minimal damage of the grass itself. Our power raking practice up roots weeds with shallow root system: uprooting them, burying them with compost topdressing (cutting off their photosynthesis) and over-seeding. Thus preventing the weeds from reaching their seed stage, thus suppressing future weed population.
Creeping Charlie Treatment - Our treatment uses a natural mineral salt that all plants need at low levels to survive. Our practice provides slightly higher application of this nutrient that will weaken Creeping Charlie naturally but is not harmful to grass. We recommend keeping pets, cats and dogs, off the lawn for three days just to be safe. The best time to use this method is in the spring and fall when the weed is the most active. We reapply two weeks later or apply it in Spring for two years only. This also helps control dandelions too.
Lawn Repair - Our cure-all for damaged lawns is to apply 1/3 of an inch topdressing of our compost and over-seed it. This improves soil structure, reduces soil compaction, and promotes healthy root formation. Our fully matured compost contains multitudes of micro-organisms and nutrients that help revitalize the lawn and suppress damaging lawn diseases and pest infestations. This service is a combination of compost topdressing, over-seeding, and our biological boosting application.
Bluebird Nesting House - The Bluebird lives on insects, which means having them around helps keep bug population in check. Depending on the season, habitat, activity level, and general food availability, bluebirds eat: Snails, grubs, caterpillars, other mollusks, insect larvae, grasshoppers, crickets, beetles, ants, spiders, and other insects. They eat flying insects such as moths, termites, and mosquitoes as well. As mentioned above, bluebirds are bug eaters and eat up to 2,000 bugs per day! Often catching them on the fly, a few bluebirds can keep the mosquito population around your home to a minimum.
But another important reason to invite bluebirds to nest in your yard is to help save this native species.
